Notorious ICE Condos Enters Into Exclusive Partnership With Airbnb

One of the most evil "ghost hotels" in Toronto has joined forces with Airbnb.

The two skyscraping condo complexes, located at 12 and 14 York Street in the downtown area, would exclusively use Airbnb, according to ICE Condos' confirmation on Thursday. To fund building operations and services, such as access to 24-hour security and check-in, a 15% booking extra will be charged to visitor fees as per the agreement. Also, ICE management will have direct access to the Airbnb booking data, and Airbnb will assign a team to the location.

Throughout the years, ICE Condos have developed a bad reputation due to rumours that the company is primarily owned by investors. The most recent shooting occurred in January of this year, and the buildings are notorious for being hotbeds for rental schemes and criminal activity.

The recently formed deal with Airbnb is a step towards bettering conditions for both investor and resident owners, according to a statement from ICE.

"Our aim is to properly represent the demands of all of our owners equally. That entails making ICE Condominiums a great location to live as well as a great investment, it claims. "We believe that the best way to accomplish this is to enhance the overall administration of short-term rentals.

"Airbnb's hosting platform is established, well-developed, and user-friendly, enabling responsible short-term rentals. They cooperate with the City of Toronto to facilitate this and make sure hosts are authorised and compliant. Also, Airbnb collaborates extensively with other property management companies to provide responsible, effective, and efficient short-term rentals from beginning to end.

The announcement of Airbnb's collaboration with ICE comes as Toronto intensifies its efforts to control short-term rental businesses all throughout the city. The City will appoint new compliance inspectors in the upcoming months to strictly enforce the 180-night maximum permitted for short-term rentals, including Airbnbs, and look into any instances of non-compliance.
