The pandemic housing boom pushed Ontarians, and especially Torontonians, to explore cities they might not have otherwise — and one of the cities that’s been receiving heightened attention is Guelph. The southern Ontario city already boasts amazing hiking trails, an expansive brewery scene, and a bustling downtown. Now, with a new luxury condo development on the way, the hub that is downtown Guelph is about to get even more exciting.Anthem At The Metalworks, a 14-storey building located at 93 Arthur Street South, is the fourth installment in what will eventually become the five-building Metalworks community, currently under construction along the banks of the Speed River.Built by Fusion Homes, the urban village — once complete — will feature 600 units, two-and-a-half acres of open green space, a 50-ft-wide urban river walk, and a whopping 30,000 sq. ft of commercial space. This includes a stunning heritage building, built in the early 1800s, that’s been preserved and transformed into a distillery and event space, with even more to come. The river walk is particularly interesting. Spanning end-to-end along the Metalworks development, the promenade will also provide connections to Guelph’s local trail network, and is set to feature historically-inspired art exhibits and scenic landscaping.Inside Anthem itself, residents will find a whole host of luxurious amenities. On the ground floor, there’s a moody yet airy piano lounge, a 1,185 sq. ft fitness club, co-working studios, a guest suite, and even a pet spa for the building’s four-legged residents.Moving up to the third floor of the glass and brick building, there’s a sprawling terrace measuring nearly 4,300 sq. ft, plus a spacious social club with a party room and washrooms. And it just keeps going — up on the seventh floor, another 1,500-sq. ft outdoor terrace waits.Anthem at The Metalworks will be home to 194 of the community’s residential units, ranging from one- to two-bedrooms plus dens. The suites feature beautiful and modern designs, Canadian-made cabinetry, and ceilings reaching up to 10ft in height. And, with an underground parking garage and surface parking planned, parking spaces will be available for purchase with select units.Being located in downtown Guelph, residents of Anthem will be mere steps away from the University of Guelph, dozens of restaurants, major retailers, train and bus stations, and parks. And of course, there are plenty of entertainment venues nearby as well, including the Guelph Concert Theatre, the Sleeman Centre, and the Art Gallery of Guelph, plus board game cafes, bowling, and nightlife.Anthem may still be a few years away from occupation, but by the sounds of it, it will definitely be worth the wait.
